10 EASY WAYS OF MANAGING STRESS EFFECTIVELY by Hamzat Mariam Odunola
Many a times, a long day at a monotonous and boring   job or engagement could get one down. Thoughts of quitting may keep running through the mind if the stress level seems so high. The mind becomes messed up from pressure and cannot make much sense out of anything.  Hence, we have compiled a list of ten easy ways of managing stress.

1. Exercise/ Yoga
Participating in activities which requires a lot of body movements is one of the important keys of dealing with stress.
Exercises like dancing, swimming, cycling and Yoga help your body to secrete adrenaline which in turn secretes Epinephrine. This hormone consecutively increases the heartbeat and blood circulation thereby putting your body in an excited state rather than a dull- stressed one.
2. Taking a hot bath/ shower
You are so stressed up and tired right? A hot bath could be the answer. Get the water to touch all nooks and cranny in the body (at best, soak up!) while relaxing. The water soothes the body.
3. Get a good sleep
After the bath, it would be advisable to get a good sleep to further relax the body. A few hours away from the problems and worries into another realm of emptiness could do the mind some good.
4. Eat foods with high carbohydrate contents.
Carbohydrates help the body to secrete Serototin, which is like a mood stabilizer. Serototine helps to reduce depression, heal wounds and regulate anxiety.
Do not leave out vitamins as well!
5. Get engaged in things you love
Having something to look forward to after work could help as well. Start a garden where you get to work when you return from work. Start reading a book, make lists of things to do during your next vacation. These most definitely will improve your mood and help overcome stress.
6. Acceptance
Fact remains that you cannot leave your present job until you have another at hand (unless, you have a fallback plan or someone to support you); you cannot just quit college if your dream job requires you to have a college degree, same as it will the ethically wrong to yell at your boss for giving you eleventh hour jobs. Accepting that some things which have occurred or are going on presently cannot be changed will help you get used to the situations and work on seeing the best in it.
Get ready, toil till it’s all done! See the works as challenges to better yourself.
7. Go out with friends.
Got asked to go shopping after work? Accept! Lunch with friends, visit family, try to keep work at bay on weekends when you don’t have to go. Talk and chatter with friends, laugh sincerely at jokes, crack some yourself and get your mind off whatever is stressing you out. Who knows? A solution might pop up during those free times.
  8. Read motivational quotes and poems
Every successful person has one or more stories of unsuccessful times. Read about the successful and unsuccessful ones and know that you are not a failure. Hard work and persistence are just what you need.
9. Write
Studies by different psychologists have shown that writing helps to heal emotional trauma and reduce stress and depression. Therefore, learn to put it down. Those disturbing thoughts and matters stressing you up. Write them down with meaning while focusing on how to battle them.
10. Vacation
When the stress level is getting out of hand, take a vacation and change your environment. Leave behind the problems and get a breathing space. You might come back eventually, bolder and stronger enough to deal with the problems.

I hope the list helped you. Be sure to pay attention to your stress level as stress could lead to depression.
